With Matrix ML-6D, bring back the music heat to your usual drive.
【Matrix ML-6D|160mm high-end mid-bass speaker focused on low-frequency reproduction】
You want a bit more thickness in the sound from your OEM speakers, and you want to hear the bass not just in quantity, but in texture as well. If that sounds like you, then Matrix ML-6D is for you.
The ML-6D is a 160mm-class high-end mid-bass speaker developed with an emphasis on low-frequency reproduction capability. While adding weight and thickness to the sound of bass and kick drums, it’s also designed to be easy to integrate into a system by considering its continuity with the vocal range. I believe you’ll feel a change in your impression of familiar songs—not only when you turn the volume up, but also at everyday listening levels, where the musical foundation becomes solid.
For the diaphragm, it uses a paper cone made from sisal fibers as the base, with a microsphere coating applied. This diaphragm, engineered to balance lightness and strength, is designed to deliver responsive playback to the movement of low frequencies.
The frame uses a DIN-size aluminum die-cast structure to suppress unwanted vibrations. The outer dimensions are 167mm, the baffle cutout is 142mm, and the mounting depth is 64mm—making it a size that’s relatively easy to consider for installation while checking space, including for European vehicles. However, actual fitment and whether any modifications are needed will vary depending on the position of the OEM speakers and the condition inside the door for your vehicle, so it’s necessary to confirm on-site with the car.
The magnet assembly is equipped with six air holes for back-pressure treatment, and the bottom is protected with a mesh grille and a stainless-steel ring. This design helps regulate the airflow at the rear of the speaker and suppresses increases in impedance and magnetic distortion.
A speaker’s sound isn’t determined by standalone performance alone. The final impression changes significantly when you consider everything—from the stiffness of the baffle, the treatment on the door side, the mounting method, how it’s combined with your existing system, and the final tuning. If it were me installing the ML-6D, I wouldn’t stop at replacing only the speakers; I’d review the vehicle and your current system first, and then organize where changes would be most beneficial.
If you want solid bass but don’t want to add only raw impact, this is a mid-bass worth considering. Centered on the front speakers, it’s suited to those who want to refine the overall thickness of the music. Since the recommended installation approach varies depending on the vehicle model and your current system, when you’re considering installation, let’s review together the vehicle conditions and the type of music you want to listen to.
