However, adding a DSP doesn’t automatically guarantee “good sound.” The direction and outcome of the adjustment depend on the combination with your speakers and amplifier, the configuration of the OEM system, and the acoustic characteristics of your cabin.

In addition to 8ch high-level input and 8ch RCA input, the HELIX DSP PRO MK3 includes coaxial digital input and optical digital input.

As with an OEM multi-system, it’s also possible to combine signals that are output separately to each speaker, consolidating them into signals that are easier to adjust. If you want to add an external amplifier or subwoofer while keeping the OEM navigation system, you can plan the configuration while organizing the overall system.

Coaxial digital input supports up to 192kHz/24bit, and optical digital input supports up to 96kHz/24bit. By adding an optional expansion card, you can also support high-resolution input up to a maximum of 192kHz/32bit.

Furthermore, when combined with the optional DIRECTOR, you can switch between the coaxial digital input and the optical digital input from your fingertips. This is a configuration that’s easy to consider for people who want to use multiple audio sources, as well as those planning a future system upgrade.

Designed with OEM Vehicle Integration in Mind

The high-level input features ADEP.3, helping ensure the OEM head unit is less likely to detect the connection of external equipment as an abnormal condition. Depending on the vehicle model, it may reduce additional work such as using dummy resistors that were previously sometimes required.

The power supply voltage supports 9.6V to 16.0V. Even if the voltage drops to 6V for a short time, the power will not turn off for 5 seconds. This provides reassurance when building a system for vehicles where voltage fluctuations are more likely, such as idle-stop cars.

Of course, if the OEM head unit that outputs the audio signal has interruptions on the head unit side, you can’t solve that problem with the DSP alone. It’s important to check the vehicle’s specifications and consider how to integrate the equipment.
