Even with limited depth, enjoy K2’s vivid sound.
【FOCAL ES 165 K2S|Slimline K2 Power Rear-Separate 2-Way Speakers】
You want a bit more punch and information in the sound from the factory speakers. However, because of limited mounting space, choosing speakers with substantial depth can be difficult. If that sounds like you, consider the FOCAL ES 165 K2S.
A slimline rear-separate 2-way speaker belonging to FOCAL’s traditional K2 Power series. Because the mounting depth is kept to 58mm, it’s a model that can be easier to consider even for vehicles where space is restricted.
For the woofer, it uses the yellow K2 sandwich cone made of aramid fiber. The cone, designed to combine light weight with high stiffness, is paired with a TMD suspension that suppresses unwanted vibrations.
The sound comes on quickly, and the contours of vocals and instruments feel tighter and more defined. Replacing the factory speakers may help address issues such as sounds becoming dull or blurred, bass becoming overly bloated, or the overall impression turning a bit noisy when you turn the volume up.
TMD is also used in the 25mm M inverted aramid dome tweeter. While extracting fine details in the high frequencies, the design also aims for listening comfort—sound that’s less likely to pierce your ears.
When you want to enjoy your favorite music with slightly more volume, or when you want to feel the expression of the vocals a bit closer, the K2-like strength and delicacy really come through.
The ES 165 K2S is not a product that can unleash all its performance simply by replacing the speakers. The final result can vary depending on the mounting space for each vehicle, the specifications of the factory audio, the condition of the baffle, vibration countermeasures on the door side, and the volume balance with the front speakers.
Also, because it is a 2Ω model, it’s safer to decide after checking the vehicle-side specifications when pairing it with the factory audio or your existing amplifier. It’s a good idea to think not only about whether it will fit, but also about whether you can use it comfortably as part of the overall system, and about how much sound you want from the rear speakers.
At Logon, we organize these choices together—whether you should replace just the speakers or also consider the mounting method and door-side processing—while confirming the vehicle model, intended use, the music you usually listen to, and your current complaints about the sound.
It’s a particularly interesting option for those who prioritize a slim design but don’t want to compromise on sound. Since mounting conditions change from vehicle to vehicle, please consult us with a reasonable, non-stressful configuration while looking at the actual vehicle.
