【PRA-16｜Make the Sound Inside Your Car More Three-Dimensional with a 16cm 2-Way Separate Speaker System】

You want a bit more clarity in the sound of the factory speakers. You want to be able to more easily perceive the placement and relationship of vocals and instruments. If that sounds like you, we’d like you to consider the PRA-16.

This 2-way setup uses a 16cm mid-bass and a 25mm aluminum dome tweeter to reproduce the front sound by separating high frequencies from mid/bass frequencies. The tweeter employs a powerful neodymium magnet, bringing out the contours of vocals and the fine details of instrument sounds in a natural way.

For the mid-bass, it uses a paper–glass fiber cone with ribbing. This lightweight yet reinforced diaphragm gives the sound more presence in terms of its attack and expression in the mid/bass range. With a 3Ω specification and sensitivity of 88dB, it is designed to make it easier to bring out solid power even when paired with a factory head unit’s built-in amplifier or a compact power amplifier.

The PRA-16 is not a product where replacing the speakers alone will produce the same sound. Depending on the mounting base on the door side, the baffle, any necessary vibration-damping treatment, and the tweeter’s orientation and height, the vocal imaging and the way the bass connects will change. Especially because it is a 3Ω model, we recommend confirming compatibility with the vehicle-side amplifier before choosing.

Tweeter mounts for both flush-mounting and surface-mounting are included, so you can consider the best installation method based on your car’s situation. It is also compatible with the separately sold aluminum surface-mount ASM-25. Note that if you use the dedicated grille, you will need the separately sold GR-160.
