If you open the door before the key fob’s authentication has finished, the siren may sound. This is not a malfunction.
The AUTHOR ALARM key fob authenticates with your vehicle using radio waves. The key fob starts authentication when it is within approximately 10 m of the vehicle. However, if you keep it inside a radio-blocking pouch, come right up to the side of the car, and then take it out on the spot, authentication may take about 5 seconds at the earliest, and in some situations about 15–20 seconds, to complete.
If you reach for the door handle and open the door before authentication is finished, the situation will be the same as opening the door before authentication, and the siren may sound.
As you approach the vehicle, please take the key fob out of the pouch promptly and use it. Even if the siren sounds, it will stop once authentication is complete. If it does not stop, perform manual authentication.
