Q & A

Q.

After installing the security system, what should I do when I replace the battery or when the battery is dead?

A.

Even on vehicles with a security system installed, we can handle battery replacement and cases where the battery has gone flat, so please rest assured.
However, if you do things the wrong way, the alarm may go off or the settings may become misaligned, so it’s important to take a little extra step before replacing the battery.

In general, you should put the security system into the appropriate state before removing the battery, and then proceed with the work.
If you turn off the power right away without following this procedure, the system may interpret it as an abnormal situation—causing the siren to sound and/or requiring reconfiguration.

For vehicles installed with LOGON, we can provide guidance tailored to the model installed and your vehicle’s specifications.
Because the cautions differ slightly by model,

  • Before replacing the battery
  • When you start to feel the battery is weakening
  • When the battery has already gone flat

At times like these, it’s the most reliable to consult us before trying anything on your own.

Especially with newer vehicles, there are many electrical components, and after a battery replacement, initialization or reconfiguration may be required.
For that reason, it’s reassuring to proceed while checking not only the security system unit itself, but also the status on the vehicle side.

Also, even if the battery goes flat while you’re out somewhere, first stay calm and,

  • How to open the doors
  • The possibility that the alarm may sound
  • Checking the condition after starting the engine

it’s important to confirm these points carefully.
We do not recommend forcibly touching the wiring or trying to remove the main unit.
Doing so can make the symptoms harder to diagnose and may lead to other malfunctions.

You may also wonder, “Is it okay to have the replacement done at an automotive parts store or maintenance shop?”—in many cases, it is possible to do so.
However, be sure to inform them in advance that the vehicle has a security system installed.
If necessary, checking the cautions with LOGON in advance can make things go even more smoothly.

Because you don’t usually handle the area around the battery, it’s also a place where uncertainty tends to increase the most in sudden situations.
At LOGON, we provide guidance so you can use the system with confidence, including in situations like these after installation.
If you have any concerns, whether before or after the replacement, please don’t hesitate to consult us first.
